One of the really neat things that we’ve gotten to experience with doing the kids camp in Poland for the last three Summers is being able to see the kids grow up. Every year we’ve put on the camp, a good number of the kids return from the Summer before, and several of them have been all three times. You definitely gain an attachment to them, and all of us that go over watch with anticipation as the kids file in the first day to see who all came back.
Meet Wiktoria (W’s have a V sound in Polish), Vicky, or Kizia… depending on what mood she’s in. Vicky is actually the little sister of Nico, whom you got to meet through his many adventures in the US a few months ago. The first Summer we were in Poland, Holly and I kept commenting on how much she reminded us of our niece “little” Holly… who isn’t so little any more, and neither is Vicky. It has been a lot of fun watching her grow up and seeing her English progress. The first time we met, she needed a translator to understand us, and this past Summer, she could carry on light conversations with us. So much fun!
Holly and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Vicky and her brother Nico, and their mom Ania. We have so many friends there now, and some that really feel like family.
